Week 1 - Signs & Visual Communications, Part 1

 Defining terms related to concepts in Visual Communication 
Alphabet- A set of symbols and letters in a particular order, used to create sounds of a language.
Street Sign- A type of sign posted where traffic is to warn drivers about restrictions, such as speed limit, names of streets, and upcoming bumps in the road. 
American Sign Language- A form of language created to communicate with people who have disabled hearing, using signs with one's hands. 
Research the following background details of each symbol

* Coed Sign- a picture of a female and a male next to each other, which means both genders are allowed, usually found on restroom doors where males and females are allowed.
* "P"- Parking symbol letting drivers know that it is okay to park in a particular place, usually found in parking lots. 
*Person in bed- Showing a person laying in a bed, letting people know there are people sleeping near by, usually found in a hotel.
* Fork & Knife- showing a fork and knife lets people know that there is a place (or places) that has food near by, usually found on the freeway for hungry drivers to know where they can stop and eat. 
*Person in wheelchair- A sign with someone in a wheelchair lets a person know that only disabled people are allowed in that area, usually found in parking lots posted on the parking spots closest to the entrance of a place.
*"?" - A question mark is means that there is somewhere where questions can be asked. This lets viewers know to go there if they need questions answered about anything, usually found in at a business place where people need a separate line for customer service.
*Phone- A telephone symbol means that a phone is near by that viewers can use, usually found on sidewalks where there are pay phones. 
*A person with  backpack and a stick- means that hiking is allowed, lets viewers know they can hike in that area, usually found at parks where a hike trail is at.
*Anchor- An anchor sign represents the sea and where boats can be found, letting viewers know they can put their boats there, usually found on a dock where people put their boats on the water. 
*Person diving with oxygen tank on back-means scuba diving is allowed, letting viewers they can go there to scuba dive, usually found near big bodies water. 
*Sailboat on water- means sailing is allowed on that particular body of water, viewers now that they can go sailing there, usually found at a beach.
